Job Title: English Teacher (SEMH School)

Location: Northampton, Northamptonshire

Salary: 140-200+ per day

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

Start Date: September 2026

About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and resilient English Teacher to join our dedicated team at a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Northampton. You will play a vital role in supporting students with complex needs, helping them to re-engage with education and achieve meaningful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging English lessons tailored to students with SEMH needs
  • Adapt teaching strategies to support a wide range of abilities and learning styles
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students to promote engagement and progress
  • Manage challenging behaviour effectively using a therapeutic approach
  • Monitor, assess, and report on student progress
  • Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists, and external agencies

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Experience teaching English at KS3 and KS4
  • A strong understanding of SEMH needs (or a willingness to learn)
  • Excellent behaviour management skills
  • Patience, resilience, and a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people
