Job Title: English Teacher (SEMH School)
Location: Northampton, Northamptonshire
Salary: 140-200+ per day
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Start Date: September 2026
About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and resilient English Teacher to join our dedicated team at a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Northampton. You will play a vital role in supporting students with complex needs, helping them to re-engage with education and achieve meaningful outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging English lessons tailored to students with SEMH needs
- Adapt teaching strategies to support a wide range of abilities and learning styles
- Build positive, trusting relationships with students to promote engagement and progress
- Manage challenging behaviour effectively using a therapeutic approach
- Monitor, assess, and report on student progress
- Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists, and external agencies
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Experience teaching English at KS3 and KS4
- A strong understanding of SEMH needs (or a willingness to learn)
- Excellent behaviour management skills
- Patience, resilience, and a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
