Job description

We're Looking for Dedicated and Experienced Tutors in the Greenwich Area

We're seeking committed tutors who are ready to make a difference that extends beyond academic instruction.

If you understand that some young people need more than a lesson plan and benefit from consistency, patience, and genuine support, we'd love to hear from you.

Who You'll Be Supporting

We receive a high volume of referrals for both primary and secondary-aged pupils, many of whom have SEMH needs and other complex challenges.

Primary referrals are typically from schools seeking targeted, personalised interventions.

Secondary referrals often involve students who may:

  • Be out of school or attending on reduced timetables
  • Have experienced difficulties within mainstream education
  • Need calm, structured, and consistent support to help rebuild confidence and engagement

Whether supporting primary or secondary pupils, the focus of this role is to help young people re-engage with learning at a pace that suits their individual needs, while providing clear structure and guidance.

Availability Requirements

  • Minimum availability of 10-15 hours per week
  • Available during core hours of 8:30am-3:30pm
  • Monday to Friday availability is essential

Reliability and consistency are key, as the pupils we support benefit greatly from routine, stability, and predictable support.

More Than Just Teaching

Strong communication skills and a professional approach are essential in this role.

Tutors will be expected to:

  • Accurately record attendance and session information
  • Monitor and report on both academic and emotional progress
  • Provide clear, professional feedback for schools and other professionals
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding, documentation, and record keeping

As your reports may contribute to discussions involving schools and external agencies, strong attention to detail and effective communication are vital.

Your Background

We welcome applications from tutors with experience in:

  • Primary or secondary education (mainstream or specialist settings)
  • Alternative provision
  • Private tuition
  • Pastoral, mentoring, or youth support roles

Essential qualities include:

  • Strong behaviour management rooted in empathy and understanding
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEMH and complex needs
  • Confidence working independently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Emotional resilience and strong interpersonal skills

Why This Role Matters

Progress does not always come in the form of data or assessment scores.

Sometimes, progress looks like:

  • A primary pupil beginning to believe in their own abilities
  • A secondary student completing an entire session while remaining engaged
  • A young person rebuilding trust in education and those supporting them

If you're passionate about creating meaningful, measurable change and can commit to providing consistent support in the Greenwich area, we'd love to hear from you.
