Currently, we're seeking a passionate Secondary English Teacher to join a school in the Christchurch area. This role is pivotal in nurturing students during their crucial final years of secondary education.
Overview:
As a Key Stage 4 GCSE English Teacher, you will be instrumental in both the academic and personal growth of students. Your responsibilities will include delivering high-quality English lessons, preparing students for GCSE examinations, and fostering a positive and engaging learning environment.
Strategic Direction:
- Develop tailored schemes of work and policies to ensure high-quality teaching and learning.
- Advocate for the subject's importance and its positive impact on student achievement.
- Collaborate with multi-agencies to tailor the curriculum to diverse student needs.
- Promote holistic student development, including spiritual, moral, social, and cultural aspects.
- Work closely with SENCO to support students with special educational needs and/or disabilities.
Leading the Curriculum:
- Oversee curriculum planning and implementation, ensuring it promotes student progress.
- Monitor and assess student progress effectively, implementing interventions when necessary.
- Design and deliver engaging English lessons tailored to students' individual needs.
- Maintain accurate records of student achievements and progress.
Leading and Supporting Staff:
- Provide ongoing support and professional development opportunities for staff.
- Liaise with exam boards to ensure staff are well-informed about syllabuses and assessment criteria.
- Support teaching assistants in assessment practices and moderation exercises.
GCSE Exam Preparation:
- Implement effective strategies for GCSE exam preparation, including mock exams and targeted interventions.
- Track and monitor student progress, providing timely feedback to support their academic improvement.
Efficient Resource Deployment:
- Manage classroom resources effectively to enhance the learning experience.
- Ensure the classroom environment is safe, welcoming, and conducive to learning.
- Prepare resources for remote learning as needed.
Partnership Working:
- Foster positive relationships with all stakeholders, including students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
- Maintain open communication with parents/carers, providing regular updates on student progress.
Equality and Diversity:
- Uphold principles of equality and diversity in all aspects of school life.
General:
- Act as an ambassador for the school and uphold its values and ethos.
- Participate in ongoing professional development activities.
- Contribute to the overall aims of the School Development Plan.
Qualifications and Experience:
- GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or equivalent.
- QTS or PGCE qualification.
- Previous experience teaching in a school environment, particularly with KS4 pupils.
- Knowledge of SEN and experience working with students in SEMH environments would be beneficial but not required.
