Secondary Teaching Assistant Job in Cwmbran
Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for a passionate and committed Teaching Assistant to work within a welcoming secondary school in Cwmbran supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN). This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone looking to gain valuable school-based experience or continue developing a rewarding career in education.
This long-term part-time role is ideal for individuals who are patient, proactive and enthusiastic about supporting young people both academically and emotionally within a secondary school setting.
The Role
As a Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to help create a positive, engaging and inclusive learning environment for all pupils.
Key Responsibilities
- Support teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons
- Provide 1:1 and small group SEN support where required
- Help manage classroom behaviour and promote positive engagement
- Support pupils with their academic, social and emotional development
- Build strong relationships with students, staff and parents
- Assist with preparing classroom resources and learning materials
- Encourage confidence, independence and participation in lessons
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for individuals who are:
- Passionate about working with young people in education
- Empathetic, patient and supportive in challenging situations
- Confident working within a fast-paced secondary school environment
- Reliable, adaptable and committed to making a difference
- Experienced in SEN support or interested in developing SEN experience
Requirements
- Right to work in the UK (Passport or Birth Certificate)
- Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) – mandatory in Wales
- Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable but not essential
