About the Role
Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in the Bolton area to recruit a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant. This role will involve supporting pupils with moderate special educational needs, such as Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), and Speech and Language delays.

Key Responsibilities
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, your role will be varied, rewarding, and vital to students’ day‑to‑day success. Responsibilities will include:
- Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN across KS3 and KS4
- Supporting students with emotional regulation, engagement, and behaviour management in line with individual support plans
- Assisting pupils with personal care needs, including toileting and hygiene, with dignity and sensitivity
- Adapting learning materials and activities to meet individual needs and learning styles
- Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to implement EHCPs
- Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive social interactions
- Supporting students during transitions between lessons and around the school site
- Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teaching staff
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should ideally have:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN, particularly at secondary age
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
- Confidence in supporting pupils with moderate additional needs, including personal care
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A genuine passion for inclusive education
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply through Teaching Personnel)
Relevant qualifications or training (e.g. Team Teach, SEN training, care background) are desirable but not essential.
