Inspire, support and empower young people with complex needs

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a specialist secondary school in the Trafford area that supports young people aged 11–16 with complex Special Educational Needs. Pupils at this school may have autism (ASD), severe or profound learning difficulties (SLD/PMLD), communication difficulties, and additional medical or physical needs.

This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated Secondary SEN Teacher who is passionate about supporting adolescents with additional needs to build confidence, independence and life skills as they prepare for adulthood.


The Role

As a Secondary SEN Teacher, you’ll deliver personalised, engaging lessons tailored to the individual needs of each student, ensuring learning is meaningful, accessible and aspirational.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering differentiated lessons across the secondary curriculum
  • Adapting teaching to meet EHCP targets and individual learning plans
  • Creating a structured, supportive classroom environment for young people with complex needs
  • Using specialist strategies such as sensory learning, visual supports and alternative communication methods (e.g. PECS, Makaton)
  • Supporting social, emotional and behavioural development during key adolescent years
  • Maintaining high standards of safeguarding and pupil wellbeing

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Experience teaching students with SEN, ideally at secondary level or within a specialist setting
  • A strong understanding of complex needs such as ASD, SEMH, SLD or PMLD
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach to behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for young people with additional needs
