SEN Teacher – Primary SEN School

Location: Manchester
Start Date: September
Contract: Full Time

Teaching Personnel are recruiting a full‑time SEN Teacher to work within a specialist primary SEN school in the Manchester area, starting in September. The school supports children with complex needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Severe and Profound Learning Difficulties (SLD/PMLD), communication difficulties, sensory needs, and associated medical or behavioural needs. This is a highly rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a nurturing, specialist setting.

The Role:

As a SEN Teacher, your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering tailored, engaging lessons to meet a wide range of complex learning needs
  • Creating a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment
  • Adapting teaching strategies to support pupils’ cognitive, sensory, emotional, and physical development
  • Working closely with Teaching Assistants, therapists, SENCOs, and external professionals
  • Monitoring pupil progress and contributing to EHCP targets and reviews
  • Implementing behaviour support strategies and promoting positive outcomes
  • Building strong relationships with pupils, parents, and carers

Requirements:

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Previous experience teaching children with SEN, ideally within a specialist or SEN school setting
  • Experience working with complex needs such as ASC, PMLD, or SEMH
  • An Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
  • A compassionate, resilient, and flexible approach
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
