Science Teacher
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
-
Plan and deliver engaging science lessons (Biology, Chemistry, and/or Physics) appropriate to students’ age and ability
-
Teach in accordance with the national curriculum and school schemes of work
-
Use a variety of teaching strategies to meet the needs of all learners
-
Set clear learning objectives and communicate expectations effectively
-
Encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and safe practical investigation
Assessment and Progress
-
Assess, record, and report on student progress accurately and regularly
-
Provide timely, constructive feedback to support student improvement
-
Use assessment data to inform planning and intervention
-
Prepare students for internal and external examinations
Classroom Management
-
Maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment
-
Manage classroom behavior in line with school policies
-
Ensure health and safety procedures are followed, particularly during practical work
Professional Responsibilities
-
Participate in departmental planning and meetings
-
Contribute to curriculum development and enrichment activities
-
Engage in continuous professional development
-
Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and colleagues
-
Support whole-school initiatives and events
Safeguarding
-
Promote the welfare and safeguarding of all students
-
Adhere to school safeguarding policies and procedures
Person Specification
Essential
-
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
-
Degree in a science-related subject
-
Strong subject knowledge and passion for science education
-
Ability to motivate and engage secondary-age students
-
Good communication and organizational skills
Desirable
-
Experience teaching science at KS3 and KS4 (KS5 an advantage)
-
Experience with practical laboratory work
-
Willingness to contribute to extracurricular science activities

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
