School Cover & Behaviour Supervisor
Job description
Cover Supervisor – Weymouth & Surrounding Areas
Are you a confident, calm and authoritative professional looking for a new challenge in education?
We are looking for a Cover Supervisor to work in secondary schools across Weymouth and the surrounding areas.
This role would suit someone with a strong presence, excellent communication skills and the confidence to take control of a classroom. You don't necessarily need previous experience in education; We're particularly interested in professionals who have developed discipline, leadership and people-management skills in demanding environments.
This could be an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in the military, police, prison service, security, emergency services, youth work or other structured and disciplined environments.
The Role
As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for maintaining a positive, calm and purposeful learning environment when regular teaching staff are unavailable.
You'll need to be someone who can walk into a classroom and command respect without raising your voice, setting clear expectations, managing behaviour and ensuring students remain focused and engaged with the work provided.
We're Looking For Someone Who:
- Has a confident and authoritative classroom presence
- Can build positive relationships with young people while maintaining clear boundaries
- Is calm and composed when dealing with challenging behaviour
- Communicates clearly and confidently
- Has strong discipline, organisation and leadership skills
- Can take responsibility and make sound decisions independently
- Is professional, reliable and resilient
- Can adapt quickly to different schools, classrooms and situations
- Takes pride in setting high standards and expectations
Teaching experience isn't essential. What matters is your ability to lead, communicate, manage behaviour and create a structured environment where students can learn.
If you're an ex-service professional, former prison officer, police officer, security professional, sports coach, youth worker or simply someone who knows how to manage a room and bring out the best in others, we'd love to hear from you.
