Location: Cardiff
Pay: £89.38 per day
️ Hours: 6:00–9:00 AM and 3:00–6:00 PM, Monday to Friday
Job Overview
Are you hands-on, reliable, and enjoy solving practical problems? We’re looking for a dedicated School Caretaker / Site Maintenance Operative / Groundskeeper to support the daily running of a school site in Cardiff. From keeping the grounds clean and safe to handling basic maintenance, deliveries, and security, you'll play a key role in ensuring a welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
Keep premises, grounds, and car park tidy and safe — including gritting and snow clearance during bad weather
Carry out basic maintenance: plumbing, decorating, minor electrical work
Receive and distribute post and deliveries
Support school lettings by preparing and securing spaces (evening/weekend availability may be required)
Assist with health & safety checks, fire alarm testing, and school compliance procedures
Respond quickly to issues and emergencies to keep the site running smoothly
✅ What We’re Looking For
Basic maintenance skills (plumbing, decorating, electrical)
Good communication – written and verbal
NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Numeracy and Literacy
⚠️ Awareness of Health & Safety and school security
️♂️ Able to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong organisational skills and a calm approach under pressure

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
