Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? Do you have experience working with challenging behaviour, SEMH needs, autism, ADHD, or other additional learning needs? If so, we would love to hear from you.

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Mentor to join a specialist SEN school, supporting students with a range of additional needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to help young people overcome barriers to learning, develop positive behaviours, and achieve their full potential.

The Role

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with students on both a 1:1 basis and in small groups, helping them regulate their emotions, engage in learning, and build positive relationships. You will support pupils with a variety of needs, including:

• Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC/ASD)
• Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
• ADHD
• Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD)
• Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
• Challenging behaviour and emotional regulation needs

Responsibilities

• Provide behaviour and emotional support to students with additional needs.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with young people.
• Support students both inside and outside of the classroom.
• Implement behaviour management strategies and personalised support plans.
• Encourage student engagement, independence, and self-confidence.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff.
• Promote a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.

Requirements

• Experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable adults.
• Background in SEN, SEMH, behaviour support, youth work, mentoring, care, residential support, or education is desirable.
• Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
• Patience, resilience, and a positive attitude.
• A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs.
