Job description
Job Title: Teacher of Religious Education
Job Purpose
To deliver high-quality Religious Education that encourages critical thinking, ethical reflection, and respect for diverse beliefs, values, and worldviews.
Key Responsibilities
-
Teach RE in line with the agreed syllabus, GCSE Religious Studies specifications, and school ethos.

Foster an inclusive classroom environment where respectful discussion is encouraged.

Support students in developing analytical, evaluative, and extended writing skills.
-
Encourage spiritual, moral, social, and cultural (SMSC) development.
Curriculum & Assessment
-
Plan and deliver lessons that cover religious, philosophical, and ethical themes.

Assess student work regularly and provide constructive feedback.

Track student progress and implement interventions where needed.
Pastoral & Wider Responsibilities
-
Contribute to whole-school assemblies, theme days, or interfaith events where appropriate.

Support the school’s values and ethos.

Act as a form tutor if required.
Safeguarding & Professional Duties
-
Adhere to safeguarding and equality policies.
-
Participate in CPD and departmental meetings.
-
Work collaboratively with colleagues across the humanities faculty.
Qualifications & Experience
-
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
-
Degree in Religious Studies, Theology, Philosophy, or a related subject.
-
Experience teaching RE at secondary level.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
