Religious Education Teacher

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Religious Education (RE) Teacher to join secondary schools across Hastings and the surrounding areas of East Sussex. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified teacher who is committed to inspiring students through engaging and thought-provoking RE lessons.

This role is suitable for experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) who hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and are looking for long-term, permanent, or flexible teaching opportunities.

The Role:

• Teaching Religious Education across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and potentially KS5 in some schools)

• Planning and delivering engaging, inclusive, and well-structured lessons in line with the national curriculum

• Promoting students’ understanding of world religions, ethics, and moral issues

• Assessing, monitoring, and tracking pupil progress

• Supporting students of varying abilities to achieve their full potential

• Creating a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment

• Working collaboratively with the wider Humanities department and school staff

Essential Requirements:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential

• A recognised degree in Religious Studies, Theology, or a related subject

• Strong subject knowledge of the secondary RE curriculum

• Effective classroom and behaviour management skills

• A professional, enthusiastic, and adaptable approach to teaching

• An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one
