Role – Reception Class Teaching Assistant

End Date – July 2027
Working Hours – Monday to Friday (8:30am – 3:30pm)

The school is based in Cardiff and is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their Reception class as a General Teaching Assistant from September 2026. You will become part of a welcoming and supportive staff team that is passionate about creating a positive and engaging learning environment for young learners.

The school values creativity and initiative and encourages staff to bring forward new ideas and approaches. Ongoing support, guidance, and feedback will be provided throughout your placement. Strong communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work with small groups of pupils to support the development of their literacy and numeracy skills.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Supporting children with classwork and activities on both a group and individual basis.
• Assisting the class teacher with the preparation of lesson materials and resources.
• Helping to create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
• Supervising pupils throughout the school day, including break times.
• Delivering intervention sessions to support pupils' learning and development.

Ideal Candidate Requirements:

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• A genuine passion for supporting children and contributing to their learning and development.
• Experience working with children in either a professional or personal capacity.

Essential Criteria:

• Enhanced Child Only DBS Certificate (your Teaching Personnel consultant can assist with this).
• Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
• Ability to provide professional references.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
