Reading Intervention Specialist
Location: Blackburn
Days: 2 Days per Week (Flexible)
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm
Start Date: ASAP
Pay: Dependent on Skills and Experience
Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a Secondary Alternative Provision in Blackburn to recruit a Reading Intervention Specialist to start as soon as possible. This is a part-time opportunity (2 days per week) with flexible days and the chance to make a real difference to young people who need targeted literacy support.
Although the role is within a secondary setting, the successful candidate must have a secure understanding of the primary phonics curriculum, as many of the learners are working below age-related expectations in reading.
Role responsibilities include:

Planning and delivering effective reading interventions
-
Using phonics-based approaches to support struggling readers
-
Assessing progress and adapting support accordingly
-
Working closely with teaching staff and SEN teams

Building positive relationships with learners who may have experienced barriers to education
Ideal candidates will have:
-
Experience working across primary and/or secondary settings
-
Strong knowledge of synthetic phonics and early reading strategies
-
A nurturing and patient approach to learning support
-
The ability to manage behaviour positively and consistently

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
