Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for a Psychology Graduate to join one of our client schools in Manchester as an SEN support teaching assistant. This position will as soon as you are cleared for work.

The salary throughout this position will be between £385 and £450 per week.

This position is highly important and will come will a lot of responsibility. The successful candidate with be working alongside students who have additional educational requirements. You must be fully aware of Special Educational Needs (SEN), as well as Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) and the impact that this can have on a child’s behaviour. These behavioural traits include anti-social behaviour, anxiety, and a withdrawn attitude. You will be working with small groups of students to support them with their additional learning requirements.

Key responsibilities:

  • Supporting the students with their Educational Healthcare Plans (EHCPs).
  • Building relationships with the students to be able to support them in their development.
  • Monitoring the progression of the pupils, being able to give feedback to the pupils, the teachers, and their parents.
  • Being aware of all safeguarding procedures and dealing with any situations that may arise.

This school is in East Manchester and is easily commutable to from Droylsden, Audenshaw, Ashton-Under-Lyne, Openshaw, Denton and Gorton. It is a mixed gender school, providing an education to children between the ages of 11 and 16.

Currently, this school holds an Ofsted rating of 1, meaning that it considered to be ‘Outstanding’. The school is in a very disadvantaged area, half of their students are eligible for free school meals, the national average is 26%. The school is performing very well academically, the number of students who leave year 11 having achieved a grade 5 or higher in both Maths and English is 10% higher than the local average.  14% of their pupils require SEN support.

For this position, it is essential that you are a recent Psychology Graduate, looking to start a career in education. You must be willing to apply for a fully enhanced DBS check and be able to provide at least two employment references.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
