Qualified History Teacher

Location: Walsall

Start Date: ASAP/ September 2026 

Pay Rate: MPS/UPS


 

About the role: 

We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Qualified History Teacher to join a secondary school in Walsall. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and well structured History lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, with the potential to teach Key Stage 5 depending on experience.

You will be joining a supportive department where high expectations, strong subject knowledge and a love of learning are at the centre of everything they do.


 

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging History lessons in line with the national curriculum
  • Teach across KS3 and KS4 with the possibility of KS5
  • Assess, track and report on student progress
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment
  • Use a range of teaching strategies to support all learners
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively in line with school policy
  • Contribute to the planning and development of the History curriculum
  • Support students in achieving strong academic outcomes
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the department and wider school
  • Take part in parents evenings staff meetings and school events as required

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential
  • Experience teaching History in UK secondary schools
  • Strong knowledge of the KS3 and KS4 History curriculum
  • Confident classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • A commitment to high standards of teaching and learning

Compliance Requirements

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Satisfactory references covering the required period
  • Full safeguarding checks completed prior to placement

You are someone who is passionate about History and can bring the subject to life in the classroom. You are confident managing a classroom, committed to helping students succeed and able to adapt your teaching to meet a range of needs.
