The Role

As an English Teacher, you will:

- Deliver engaging and high-quality English Language and English Literature lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with opportunities to teach Key Stage 5 where applicable.

- Plan and prepare creative lessons that challenge and motivate students of all abilities.

- Foster a positive learning environment that encourages students to develop confidence in reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking.

- Assess, monitor, and track student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback to support achievement.

- Differentiate lessons effectively to meet the needs of all learners, including those with additional educational needs.

- Promote high standards of behaviour, engagement, and academic achievement within the classroom.

- Support students in preparing for GCSE examinations and achieving their academic goals.

- Contribute to departmental initiatives, curriculum development, and extracurricular activities such as reading clubs, creative writing groups, or school productions.

- Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and support staff to ensure the best possible outcomes for students.

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will possess:

- A recognised teaching qualification (QTS, QTLS, or equivalent).

- Experience teaching English within a secondary school setting.

- Strong subject knowledge in English Language and English Literature.

- A passion for literacy and the ability to inspire students to engage with a wide range of texts and genres.

- Excellent classroom management and organisational skills.

- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.

- The ability to build positive and productive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.

- A flexible and adaptable approach to teaching, with a commitment to meeting individual student needs.

- An Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service, or a willingness to apply for one.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
