English Teacher – Secondary PRU (Stockport)

Start Date: February | Full-Time | Teaching Personnel

About the Role

As an English Teacher in a PRU setting, you will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging English lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to support pupils with SEMH challenges and complex backgrounds.
  • Create a safe, positive classroom environment that promotes emotional well-being and academic progress.
  • Manage behaviour effectively, using restorative approaches and positive reinforcement.
  • Work collaboratively with support staff and SEN specialists to meet pupils’ holistic needs.
  • Track and assess progress, ensuring every student has achievable goals.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to encourage confidence and resilience.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching English at secondary level.
  • Understanding of SEMH needs and strategies to support pupils with challenging behaviour.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
  • Safeguarding training (or willingness to complete).
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Ability to remain calm, patient, and solution-focused in a fast-paced environment.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
