Start Date: 2nd September 2026 (subject to compliance checks)
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:15am–3:15pm
Pay: £120 per day (PAYE) | Weekly Pay
Flexible, ad hoc work designed around university and postgraduate study

Before Your Master's, Build the Experience That Matters

Planning a career in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Mental Health, Counselling or Teaching?

Most postgraduate courses and graduate professions have one thing in common—they expect applicants to have meaningful experience supporting children or young people.

This role gives you exactly that.

We're looking for Psychology students and graduates who want to apply their knowledge in a real-world setting while developing the practical skills that universities and employers value. You'll support pupils in secondary schools across Cardiff, helping them overcome barriers to learning, build confidence and achieve positive outcomes both inside and outside the classroom.

Whether you're taking a gap year, studying for your Master's, or exploring different career pathways, this is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience while making a genuine difference.

The Role

Working across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, you'll support students who may need additional academic, behavioural or emotional guidance throughout the school day.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Providing one-to-one support for pupils with additional learning or emotional needs
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Supporting students who are experiencing anxiety, low confidence or disengagement from learning
  • Delivering small-group interventions focused on social, emotional or academic development
  • Building positive, consistent relationships that help pupils feel safe, supported and motivated
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams to remove barriers to learning
  • Celebrating progress, no matter how small, and helping young people reach their potential

No two days are the same, but every day offers the chance to make a lasting impact.

Why This Role is Ideal for Psychology Graduates

This position provides valuable experience in areas directly relevant to postgraduate study and careers within psychology and education, including:

  • Child and adolescent development
  • Behaviour management and emotional regulation
  • Mental health and wellbeing
  • Trauma-informed practice
  • Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Additional Learning Needs (ALN)
  • Safeguarding and child protection
  • Multi-disciplinary working within education settings

It's the kind of experience that strengthens applications for Master's programmes, doctoral training and graduate roles across the helping professions.

A Great Fit If You're Interested In
