⏰ Full-Time | Monday to Friday (Term Time Only)

Are you a Psychology or Counselling graduate looking to gain hands-on experience in education? Do you have a passion for supporting young people with additional needs?

We’re working with specialist SEN/SEMH schools in Gloucester who are looking for empathetic, resilient, and motivated individuals to join their team this September.


The Role

This is a rewarding opportunity to support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You’ll play a key role in helping pupils manage emotions, build confidence, and engage with learning.

You may be required to work across multiple provisions within the school group, providing a varied and dynamic experience.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting students on a 1:1 or small group basis
  • Assisting with emotional regulation and behaviour support
  • Helping students access learning in the classroom
  • Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Supporting tailored interventions and pastoral care

What We’re Looking For

We’re keen to hear from candidates who are:

  • Psychology or Counselling graduates (or related fields like Social Work, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, etc.)
  • Strong communicators with a calm and patient approach
  • ❤️ Passionate about mental health and supporting young people
  • Adaptable and able to think on their feet
  • Open to training and professional development

Experience in the following is beneficial but not essential:

  • SEN or SEMH environments
  • Youth work or mentoring
  • Support work or care roles
  • School, tutoring, or outreach settings

Training & Development

  • Full training provided from day one
  • If successful, the school will fund a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
  • Ongoing support and professional development opportunities
