We’re working with specialist SEN/SEMH schools in Gloucester who are looking for empathetic, resilient, and motivated individuals to join their team this September.
The Role
This is a rewarding opportunity to support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You’ll play a key role in helping pupils manage emotions, build confidence, and engage with learning.
You may be required to work across multiple provisions within the school group, providing a varied and dynamic experience.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting students on a 1:1 or small group basis
- Assisting with emotional regulation and behaviour support
- Helping students access learning in the classroom
- Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils
- Supporting tailored interventions and pastoral care
What We’re Looking For
We’re keen to hear from candidates who are:
- Psychology or Counselling graduates (or related fields like Social Work, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, etc.)
- Strong communicators with a calm and patient approach
- ❤️ Passionate about mental health and supporting young people
- Adaptable and able to think on their feet
- Open to training and professional development
Experience in the following is beneficial but not essential:
- SEN or SEMH environments
- Youth work or mentoring
- Support work or care roles
- School, tutoring, or outreach settings
Training & Development
- Full training provided from day one
- If successful, the school will fund a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
- Ongoing support and professional development opportunities
