Location: Wirral Primary Schools
Start: Immediate & September opportunities available
Hours: Full-time
Contract: Long-term placements
Pay: £90–£120 per day (dependent on experience)
About the Role
Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a network of welcoming primary schools across the Wirral to recruit dedicated Teaching Assistants for a range of long-term roles.
We have multiple full-time opportunities available, supporting pupils across Early Years, KS1, and KS2. Roles are available for both immediate starts and the upcoming September academic year.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers to support pupils in their learning, both in whole-class settings and through 1:1 or small group interventions. You will help create a positive, inclusive classroom environment where all children can thrive and reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils
- Support learning across Early Years, KS1, and KS2
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging and accessible lessons
- Help manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
- Encourage pupil confidence, independence, and participation
- Support children with varying learning needs and abilities
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and other professionals
- Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback
- Maintain high standards of safeguarding, behaviour management, and health & safety
- Contribute to a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment
About You
You may have experience working with children in education, childcare, youth work, or support roles. You will be enthusiastic, patient, and adaptable, with a strong commitment to supporting children’s learning and development.
You should be confident building positive relationships with pupils and staff, and comfortable supporting learning across a primary classroom.
Essential Requirements
- Experience working with children or young people
- Experience within a UK school or education setting
- A proactive, patient, and flexible approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to adapt within a primary school environment
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Right to work in the UK
- GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above, or equivalent)
Desirable
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Teaching Assistant, Childcare, or similar
- Experience in a primary school setting
- Phonics or early years experience
- Behaviour management or safeguarding training

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
