Primary Teacher – SEMH Specialist
Location: Templecombe, Somerset
Salary: £31,650 – £43,607
Start Date: Immediate

We are working with an Independent Special School in Somerset that provides exceptional education and care for boys aged 5–13 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The school offers both weekly boarding and day places, creating a nurturing environment where pupils can flourish.
About the Role
As a Primary Classroom Teacher, you will:
- Plan and deliver engaging, mixed-curriculum lessons tailored to pupils with SEN needs, particularly SEMH
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and senior leaders to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom
- Foster positive behaviour and emotional resilience through innovative strategies and compassionate teaching
What We’re Looking For
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) / PGCE
- Experience supporting children with SEMH needs
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust with pupils and colleagues
- Resilience, patience, and a creative approach to overcoming challenges
- Comfortable teaching across KS1, KS2, and KS3
- Skilled in de-escalating challenging situations calmly and safely

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
