Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and resilient Positive Behaviour Mentor to support pupils within a highly specialised secondary ALN provision in Carmarthen. The setting supports learners with a range of complex additional learning needs, including Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, communication difficulties, anxiety, trauma-related behaviours, sensory needs, and pupils who may struggle in a mainstream environment.

This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting vulnerable young people and helping them achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally.

The Role

As a Positive Behaviour Mentor, you will become a key part of a specialist team, providing consistent support to pupils who require additional guidance with behaviour, emotional regulation, communication, social interaction, and engagement in learning.

You'll work closely with learners who benefit from structure, routine, patience, and positive relationships, helping them develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed.

Your responsibilities will include:

✅ Providing 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with ALN and SEMH needs

✅ Supporting learners with Autism, anxiety, emotional regulation difficulties, and social communication challenges

✅ Using trauma-informed and restorative approaches to positively manage behaviours that challenge

✅ Creating a calm, predictable, and nurturing learning environment

✅ Helping pupils develop emotional resilience, self-confidence, and independence

✅ Supporting pupils during lessons, breaktimes, transitions, and intervention sessions

✅ Encouraging positive engagement with learning and school routines

✅ Implementing behaviour support plans and individual learning strategies

✅ Working collaboratively with teaching staff, ALN professionals, therapists, parents, and pastoral teams

✅ Celebrating progress and helping pupils achieve personalised goals

Experience in education is beneficial but not essential.

Requirements

✔ Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

✔ EWC Registration (or willingness to register)

✔ Aged 18+

✔ Completion of Safeguarding Training during onboarding

✔ Two professional references covering the previous 24 months
