PMLD Teaching Assistant

Our agency is currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties) Teaching Assistant to work in a specialist school setting. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience supporting children and young people with complex learning and physical needs.

As a PMLD Teaching Assistant, you will work under the guidance of the class teacher and other professionals to provide individualised support that promotes engagement, independence, and personal development. You will assist with sensory learning activities, communication support, and personal care, ensuring that each pupil receives high-quality, person-centred assistance.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Supporting pupils with complex communication, sensory, and physical needs

  • Assisting with personal care and mobility

  • Helping to deliver individual education and therapy programmes

  • Creating a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment

  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff

 

Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with PMLD or severe learning difficulties

  • Understanding of communication and sensory strategies (e.g. PECS, Makaton, sensory integration)

  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach

  • Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
