Job description

We are seeking a passionate and resilient PE Teacher to join a specialist secondary setting supporting young people with SEMH and Autism.

This role is ideal for a teacher who understands the powerful role physical activity can play in regulation, confidence-building, and emotional wellbeing. You will deliver engaging and well-structured PE lessons up to GCSE/BTEC level, adapting your approach to meet a wide range of needs while promoting teamwork, resilience, and self-belief.

The Role

  • Teach PE up to GCSE/BTEC level using inclusive, flexible, and creative approaches
  • Use physical activity to support emotional regulation, confidence, and social development
  • Plan and deliver lessons that meet diverse emotional, social, and learning needs
  • Foster positive relationships and model healthy communication and behaviour
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide consistent support
  • Create a safe, structured, and motivating learning environment

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Experience working with SEN, particularly SEMH and/or Autism (essential)
  • Strong emotional, social, and communication skills
  • A resilient, reflective, and calm approach to behaviour
  • High levels of self-awareness and emotional intelligence
  • Flexibility and openness to change in a dynamic setting
  • The ability to think creatively and adapt activities to individual needs
  • A good sense of humour and the ability to build positive rapport

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
