We are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to work within a range of SEN (Special Educational Needs) and SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) schools across Chorley and Skelmersdale. Whether you are an experienced Teaching Assistant or looking to take the next step in your education career, this is a fantastic opportunity to work in rewarding and supportive school environments.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. You will support pupils with a range of additional needs, providing both academic and emotional support throughout the school day.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups
  • Assisting the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and social development
  • Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Supporting students with SEN, SEMH, ASD, ADHD, and other additional needs
  • Helping create a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment

We would love to hear from candidates who have:

  • Experience working with children or young people (school-based experience is desirable but not essential)
  • A patient, resilient, and caring nature
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs
  • The ability to remain calm and positive in challenging situations
  • A proactive and flexible approach to work

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
