1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant – Part Time (Wigan)

A welcoming and supportive primary school in Wigan is looking for a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with autism. The role will involve providing consistent support throughout the school day, helping the pupil engage with learning activities and develop key social and communication skills.

You will adapt classroom activities to meet the pupil’s individual needs, use visual aids and structured routines, and support transitions between tasks. Building a strong, trusting relationship with the pupil will be key to ensuring they feel safe, supported, and able to make progress.

The role is scheduled to start in October 2026 and will be a part time, long-term position supporting the pupil on a consistent basis.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with autism and a good understanding of strategies such as PECS, visual timetables, and sensory support. Patience, consistency, and a positive attitude are essential for this role.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
