Experienced Nursery Teacher

Bootle, Sefton | Full-time maternity cover
Start: As soon as possible | Expected until May half-term 2027
Pay: Competitive daily rate, based on experience

Teaching Personnel is working exclusively with a large, welcoming primary school in Bootle to recruit an experienced Nursery Teacher for maternity cover.

This is a full-time role within a busy 52-place nursery, so the school needs someone who knows EYFS well and is confident taking responsibility for both the teaching and day-to-day organisation of the provision. You will work alongside a team of up to five members of staff, leading deployment across the nursery and ensuring children receive consistent, purposeful support throughout the day.

  • Planning and delivering engaging learning across the EYFS curriculum
  • Creating a well-organised and stimulating nursery environment
  • Completing observations, assessments and progress records
  • Using assessment information to inform planning and next steps
  • Deploying and coordinating up to five members of staff
  • Supporting children with a range of abilities and additional needs
  • Maintaining clear routines and positive behaviour expectations
  • Working closely with the wider EYFS and senior leadership teams
  • Building positive relationships with parents and carers
  • Supporting children’s social, emotional and language development

Who is the school looking for?

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status
  • Has at least one full year of Nursery teaching experience
  • Has strong knowledge of the EYFS framework
  • Is confident completing observations and assessments
  • Can lead and deploy a nursery support team effectively
  • Understands effective continuous provision
  • Is organised, proactive and comfortable taking responsibility
  • Can commit to a full-time maternity-cover role

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
