Maths Teacher
Job description
Southampton Secondary Academy – January 2026 Start
Teaching Personnel is pleased to work with a vibrant, inclusive secondary academy in Southampton to recruit an energetic and committed Maths Teacher on a full-time, permanent basis, beginning in September 2025.
About the School
- The school is a mixed 11–16 academy serving around 900 students.
- The academy is part of a trust that aims to provide “exceptional education at the heart of the community.”
- Inclusivity is central — the school welcomes pupils from all backgrounds and abilities, placing emphasis on equality, support, and a broad and balanced curriculum.
- Their most recent inspection (April 2024) judged the academy “Good” in all areas. Inspectors noted that pupils make good progress, produce high-quality work, and that students with SEND are very well supported.
- The school promotes strong values of being proud, kind, and determined — pupils reflect these values in their behaviour, attitude and work ethic.
About the Role
As a Maths Teacher you will:
- Plan, prepare and deliver engaging and challenging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, following the national curriculum.
- Support students in achieving strong outcomes in GCSE Mathematics through effective teaching, formative and summative assessment, and targeted feedback.
- Use data to monitor and track pupil progress, identify under-achievement and implement appropriate interventions.
- Work collaboratively within an established maths department — sharing planning, resources, and best practice to sustain high standards.
- Participate in additional support and enrichment: tutoring, intervention sessions, maths clubs, revision workshops or other extra-curricular numeracy activities.
- Promote inclusion: adapt teaching to meet the needs of all pupils, including those with SEND or from diverse backgrounds.
What the School & Trust Offer
- A permanent, full-time teaching position in a well-regarded academy, embedded within a supportive and inclusive community.
- Membership of a forward-thinking maths faculty with shared planning and collaborative teaching culture.
- Opportunities for professional development through the Oasis Trust network and regular CPD provision.
- Modern school environment and a holistic ethos that values student welfare, personal development and academic success.
- A chance to make a real difference: helping pupils from diverse backgrounds develop confidence, achieve in mathematics and build life-long numeracy skills.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for a candidate who:
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Has strong mathematics subject knowledge and is passionate about teaching Maths at KS3 and KS4.
- Demonstrates excellent classroom management and communication skills, with an inclusive, flexible and student-centred approach.
- Is able to collaborate effectively within a team, sharing resources and contributing to continuous improvement.
- Is committed to supporting all pupils to succeed — including those with additional needs — and to raising attainment across the department.
- Has a commitment to sustained professional development and contributing positively to school ethos and community.
