Are you a passionate and resilient Maths Teacher who wants to make a genuine difference to the lives of young people?

We are seeking an enthusiastic SEMH Maths Teacher to join a specialist school in Portsmouth, supporting pupils who may have social, emotional and mental health needs and who require a more personalised approach to education.

This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who can inspire students who may have previously struggled within a mainstream setting, helping them to develop confidence, achieve academically and recognise their potential.

The Role

As an SEMH Maths Teacher, you will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated Maths lessons.

  • Adapt teaching to meet a wide range of academic and individual needs.

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.

  • Support students with SEMH needs, behavioural challenges and barriers to learning.

  • Create a calm, structured and inclusive learning environment.

  • Track and celebrate student progress and achievement.

  • Work closely with teaching assistants, pastoral staff and senior leaders.

  • Encourage pupils to develop confidence, resilience and a positive attitude towards learning.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a teacher who is:

  • A qualified teacher with experience teaching Maths.

  • Passionate about supporting young people with additional needs.

  • Patient, resilient and emotionally intelligent.

  • Confident managing challenging behaviour using positive and consistent strategies.

  • Able to adapt lessons to engage pupils with different abilities and learning needs.

  • Committed to building strong relationships and helping every student succeed.

  • Experienced in an SEMH, SEN or alternative provision setting (desirable but not essential).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
