Are you a Maths or English specialist with a passion for supporting young people who need extra help to succeed?
I am recruiting Maths and English Tutors to work within mainstream secondary schools across Bristol, supporting students who are behind in their studies or in care (looked-after children) through targeted intervention and tailored support.
This is a highly rewarding role where you can make a direct and measurable impact on student progress and confidence.
✅ About the Role:
As a Maths or English Tutor, you will:
- Deliver targeted 1:1 and small group intervention sessions
- Support students with gaps in learning due to disrupted education
- Work with looked-after children (LAC) and vulnerable learners
- Focus on core skills, exam preparation and confidence building
- Plan personalised sessions based on individual learning needs
- Track and report on student progress
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams
- Support students within lessons or in withdrawal/intervention settings
✅ About the Schools:
You will be working within mainstream secondary schools, supporting students through:
- Catch-up and intervention programmes
- On-site inclusion units and SEN support spaces
- Structured academic support for students falling behind
- Programmes aimed at improving outcomes for disadvantaged and vulnerable learners
These schools are focused on ensuring all students, regardless of background or barriers, are able to achieve and progress.
✅ Who This Role Suits:
- Qualified teachers or subject specialists in Maths or English
- Tutors with experience in GCSE preparation and intervention
- Graduates in English, Maths or related subjects
- Individuals with experience supporting looked-after children or vulnerable learners
- Teaching Assistants or Learning Mentors with strong subject knowledge
- Anyone passionate about closing attainment gaps and supporting progress
✅ Requirements:
- Strong subject knowledge in Maths or English
- Experience working with secondary-aged students (KS3/KS4)
- Ability to differentiate and personalise learning
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Patient, empathetic and adaptable approach
- Understanding of safeguarding
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
