About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Maths & English Tutor to provide tailored educational support to learners in the S45 area of Chesterfield. This rewarding role involves delivering personalised tuition during weekday school hours, helping students strengthen their literacy and numeracy skills, build confidence, and achieve their academic goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging 1:1 Maths and English tuition sessions tailored to individual learning needs.
• Assess students' strengths and areas for development and create personalised learning plans.
• Plan and adapt lessons to suit different abilities and learning styles.
• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records.
• Build positive and supportive relationships with students, families, and relevant professionals.
• Encourage student engagement, confidence, and independent learning.

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of teaching or tutoring experience within the UK.
• Experience teaching or tutoring Maths and English.
• Strong understanding of the UK curriculum.
• Ability to deliver personalised and differentiated learning.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
• Right to work in the UK.

Desirable

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE, or relevant teaching/tutoring qualification.
• Experience supporting students with SEND, SEMH, or those out of mainstream education.
• Previous experience delivering 1:1 tuition.
• Knowledge of intervention strategies to support literacy and numeracy development.
