Maternity Cover Teacher

Are you an experienced and passionate Teacher looking for a temporary teaching role? Teaching Personnel is recruiting a Primary Teacher for a maternity cover position, starting after the Christmas holidays (January- July) within the Tameside area OL6. The school haven’t stated which year group specifically, as they have the flexibility to move current staff around within school.  

Location: Tameside OL6

Job Type: Maternity Cover Teacher  

Salary: £130-160 per day

Start date: Monday 5th January 2026

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and high-quality lessons aligned with the Primary National Curriculum
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress to ensure all learners reach their full potential
  • Promote a positive and inclusive classroom environment through effective behaviour management
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents and school leadership to support holistic pupil development
  • Maintain accurate records of pupil assessments in accordance with school policies
  • Contribute positively to the wider school community throughout the maternity cover period

Requirements:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Demonstrated experience teaching primary-aged pupils
  • Strong classroom management and excellent organisational skills
  • A genuine commitment to supporting both the academic and personal development of children
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and parents

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
