Learning Support Assistant (SEN Focus) – Tameside
Full-time | September 2025 Start | £89–£100 per day
We are recruiting on behalf of a large and inclusive secondary school in Tameside that is seeking a committed Learning Support Assistant to join their SEN provision team. The school has a strong reputation for nurturing and supporting students with diverse needs, and is looking for someone who can make a real impact on student outcomes.
Role Overview:
The successful candidate will work closely with pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including autism spectrum conditions, social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) difficulties, ADHD, and learning difficulties. You will provide tailored support both in class and during targeted interventions.
Key Responsibilities:

Deliver 1:1 and small group support under the guidance of the SENCO and class teacher.

Adapt learning materials to suit individual needs.

Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and help foster independence.

Implement strategies from individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour plans.

Monitor and report pupil progress regularly.
Candidate Requirements:
-
Experience supporting children or young people with SEN in a school or care setting.
-
Excellent communication and de-escalation skills.
-
A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach.
-
Team player with a strong understanding of safeguarding practices.
-
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
