About the Role
Teaching Personnel are recruiting a caring, experienced Early Years practitioner to support a non‑verbal Reception pupil with autism in a primary school in Washington. This is a Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm, term‑time only role and will commence once EHCP funding is approved.
As this is an agency position, the school may end the placement at any time, though it is anticipated to become long‑term and may lead to a permanent position for the right candidate.
The pupil requires visual communication, sensory‑based support and consistent routine throughout the EYFS environment.
About You
- Experience supporting SEND pupils 1:1, particularly autistic or non‑verbal children
- Ideally holds a Level 3 TA or Early Years qualification
- Warm, patient, nurturing and creative
- Able to set clear, gentle and consistent boundaries
- Confident using visual or alternative communication (PECS, gestures, visuals)
- Passionate about Early Years and inclusive practice
Key Responsibilities
- Providing 1:1 support throughout the school day
- Using alternative communication and sensory strategies
- Supporting social and play‑based learning
- Assisting with emotional regulation and sensory needs
- Working closely with the teacher, SENDCO and external agencies
- Maintaining simple progress notes

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
