Are you passionate about supporting children and young people who experience social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs?

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a welcoming and supportive educational setting in Towcester, NN12.

The Role

As an SEMH LSA, you will work closely with pupils who may require additional support with their emotional wellbeing, behaviour, communication and engagement in learning.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH and additional needs.
• Building positive, trusting and consistent relationships with pupils.
• Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and developing appropriate coping strategies.
• Encouraging positive behaviour and helping pupils manage challenging situations.
• Supporting pupils to engage with lessons and access the curriculum.
• Working closely with teachers, SEN staff and other professionals to implement individual support strategies.
• Helping to create a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment.
• Encouraging independence, confidence and positive social interaction.
• Monitoring pupils' progress and providing feedback to teaching staff.
• Following safeguarding, behaviour and school policies at all times.

Previous experience working with SEMH, SEND, challenging behaviour, pastoral support or vulnerable young people would be highly advantageous. However, we will also consider candidates with transferable experience who demonstrate the right attitude and commitment.

The successful candidate will be required to undertake the appropriate safeguarding and pre-employment checks, including an enhanced DBS check which you must be willing to apply for, in accordance with current legislation and school policy.
