Teaching Personnel are currently looking for enthusiastic and experienced Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to join primary schools across Southampton from October/November 2026 on a part-time, long-term basis.

We are particularly keen to hear from candidates with SEN experience who are confident supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis as well as delivering small-group interventions. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning, build confidence and achieve their full potential.

The Role

As a part-time Learning Support Assistant, you will provide consistent and dedicated support to pupils with a variety of additional needs, helping them access learning, develop their confidence and make progress both academically and socially.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Providing 1:1 support to pupils with SEN and additional needs

• Supporting and delivering small-group interventions

• Assisting teachers with classroom activities and learning

• Supporting pupils with their social, emotional and academic development

• Promoting positive and effective behaviour management

• Working closely with teachers and the wider school team

• Adapting your approach to meet individual pupils' needs

• Developing positive, supportive and trusting relationships with pupils

• Providing consistent support during your working hours

• Contributing to a positive, inclusive and nurturing learning environment

About You

We would love to hear from you if you:

• Have previous experience working with children in a school, nursery or similar environment

• Have experience supporting children with SEN

• Are confident providing both 1:1 and small-group support

• Are patient, caring and approachable

• Have excellent communication and teamwork skills

• Are passionate about children's learning and development

• Are reliable, adaptable and committed to a part-time role

• Can build strong, positive relationships with pupils

• Are keen to contribute to the wider life of the school
