A welcoming and nurturing mainstream primary school in Skelmersdale is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join their Year 2 (KS1) team from 19th October.

This vacancy has arisen following the retirement of a long-standing member of staff and presents an excellent temporary to permanent opportunity for the right candidate to become a valued member of the school community.

The Role

The successful candidate will work closely with the Year 2 class teacher and wider support team, providing targeted academic support to pupils across Key Stage 1. A key focus of the role will be delivering phonics interventions and supporting children in Literacy and Numeracy, helping to bridge gaps in learning and accelerate progress.

The school is looking for someone who can build positive relationships with pupils while maintaining high expectations and encouraging a love of learning.

The Ideal Candidate

Applicants must:

• Have previous classroom experience within a primary school setting (essential)
• Hold a Teaching Assistant Level 2, Childcare Level 2, or equivalent qualification (essential)
• Have experience supporting children in Key Stage 1
• Be confident delivering phonics interventions and supporting early reading development
• Have strong Literacy and Numeracy skills
• Be academically minded and passionate about helping children achieve their potential
• Be firm but fair, with the confidence to uphold high standards and expectations
• Have a positive outlook and a good sense of humour
• Work effectively as part of an experienced and supportive team
• Be committed to both the academic progress and wellbeing of local children
