About the Role

As an SEN LSA, you'll play a huge part in helping children access education, develop their independence and reach their potential.

You may provide one-to-one or small-group support, working alongside class teachers, SENCOs and other professionals to ensure pupils receive the individualised support they need.

Many of the pupils you support may have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), giving you the opportunity to work towards specific targets and help children make meaningful academic, social and emotional progress.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Providing one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with SEN.
• Supporting children with Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, moderate and severe learning difficulties and physical disabilities.
• Supporting strategies and targets outlined within pupils' EHCPs.
• Adapting activities and learning to meet individual needs.
• Encouraging communication, independence, confidence and positive social interaction.
• Supporting positive behaviour through calm, consistent approaches.
• Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists and other professionals.
• Building trusting and positive relationships with pupils.
• Providing emotional, social and academic support.
• Supporting personal care where required, depending on the individual setting.

What we're looking for

We're looking for people who genuinely want to make a difference to children's lives.

We're particularly interested in candidates with:

• Experience working with children or young people with SEN.
• Experience within education, care, support or youth work settings.
• An understanding of additional needs and personalised support.
• Experience or knowledge of EHCPs is desirable.
• A patient, resilient and compassionate approach.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• The ability to build strong relationships with children and staff.
• A genuine passion for inclusive education.

Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential. Your attitude, experience, reliability and passion for supporting children are just as important.
