As a partner of the school on the outskirts of Blackburn, Teaching Personnel are keen to appoint a Teaching Assistant to work in an intervention capacity for the remainder of the academic year. The role will involve working on a 0.4 timetable and include the delivery of Maths and English to Year 4 and 5 level. You will be expected to work from 0830-1530 each day and be given planning to differentiate accordingly. You will work effectively with the class teacher to ensure the needs of the children in your intervention group are met. You will also have the opportunity to shadow other members of staff in the first week to ensure you can transition into the role effectively.

The Head teacher in school has noted that she would like the applying candidates to have prior experience of working in a school setting, preferably in a KS2 department. The Head teacher has also added that she would prefer the applying candidates to hold a Level 2 or above Teaching Assistant equivalent qualification. Graduates and BA Hons candidates are also welcome to apply!

The school is located on the outskirts of Blackburn and serves a mixed catchment area where the children tend to arrive from a mixed background. The local vicinity consists of mainly low income and rental accommodation. The school work hard to tackle challenging behaviour and have a good behaviour strategy and focus to ensure the children understand the boundaries set across the working day. The successful candidate will have access to the behaviour policy and additional support from the Senior Leadership Team. Given this, the school is a pleasant place to work and the staff are well-driven by the fact they have recently been graded GOOD by Ofsted. The Head teacher is well known in the local area and is known to be very supportive!
