Teaching Assistant (General & 1:1 Support) – Year 2

We are seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to join a primary school in Portsmouth, providing both general classroom support and 1:1 assistance within a Year 2 setting. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional individual who is committed to supporting pupils’ academic progress and personal development.

Role specifics

• Pay Rate: £13.75 per hour
• Working Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm (term time)
• Contract Type: Full-time
• Start Date: Immediate

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the class teacher with the delivery of learning activities
• Support pupils’ engagement, behaviour and emotional wellbeing
• Contribute to a positive, inclusive and well-managed classroom environment
• Provide 1:1 support to pupils as required

Person Specification

• Experience within KS1 is desirable
• A minimum of two years’ employment history
• A professional, patient and nurturing approach
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
