KS1 Teaching Assistant

Are you a passionate and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant who loves helping young children develop their confidence and achieve their potential?

We are currently looking for a KS1 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Newton Aycliffe.

This is a varied role that would be ideal for someone who enjoys supporting children across different aspects of their learning. You will work closely with the class teacher, providing phonics support, small-group interventions and some 1:1 SEN support.

The Role

As a KS1 Teaching Assistant, your day will be varied and rewarding. You will:

• Support the delivery of phonics sessions and help children develop their early reading skills
• Deliver small-group interventions to support children who need additional help with their learning
• Provide some 1:1 support for pupils with SEN, helping them access learning and develop their independence
• Support children within the classroom and work alongside the class teacher
• Help create a positive, engaging and inclusive learning environment
• Build strong relationships with pupils and encourage their confidence and enthusiasm for learning
• Provide encouragement and reassurance to children who may need additional support

• Passionate about working with children in KS1
• Confident supporting phonics and early reading
• Able to deliver or support small-group interventions
• Caring, patient and approachable
• Comfortable providing support to children with SEN
• Able to work effectively as part of a team
• Proactive and enthusiastic about helping children succeed
• Committed to creating a positive and nurturing learning environment

Previous experience working within a KS1 or primary setting would be highly desirable, particularly experience with phonics and interventions.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
