Job description

Teaching Personnel are currently looking for Individual Needs Assistants to work in primary schools across Hastings and the surrounding areas.

The role involves supporting pupils with additional needs on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, helping them engage with learning, build confidence and make progress throughout the school day.

The right candidate will be patient, reliable and able to build positive relationships with young people. Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable adults is desirable, but we also welcome applications from those with backgrounds in care, support work, youth work or similar roles.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting pupils with SEN, including ASD, ADHD and SEMH needs
  • Working closely with teachers and wider school staff
  • Helping pupils stay focused and engaged in lessons
  • Encouraging independence and positive behaviour
  • Providing emotional and academic support where needed

Requirements:

  • A positive and supportive approach
  • Good communication skills
  • Previous experience working with children or young people is beneficial
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
