Job description
Inclusion Support Assistant – Middlesbrough Secondary Schools
Competitive Daily Rates, Long-Term, ASAP Start
Teaching Personnel is recruiting an Inclusion Support Assistant for secondary schools across Middlesbrough, with positions available immediately. This is a distinct and specialist role — not a general classroom support position, but one focused specifically on keeping vulnerable and at-risk students engaged with mainstream education and preventing unnecessary exclusions.
You'll be working within inclusion and pastoral teams, supporting students who are at risk of disengaging from school entirely. It requires a particular kind of person — someone who can build trust quickly, remain calm under pressure, and advocate effectively for young people who often feel let down by the systems around them.
What the role involves:
- Working with students at risk of exclusion or disengagement from mainstream education
- Delivering targeted 1:1 and small group support within an inclusion setting
- Developing and maintaining positive relationships with some of the school's most complex students
- Supporting reintegration after exclusion or prolonged absence
- Liaising with pastoral staff, the SENCO, families, and external agencies
- Maintaining accurate records and contributing to individual support plans
- Upholding safeguarding responsibilities at all times
What we're looking for:
- Experience working with young people in an inclusion, pastoral, or behaviour support capacity
- A calm, consistent, and non-judgmental approach
- Confidence managing complex and challenging behaviour
- Understanding of the factors that contribute to disengagement and exclusion
- Relevant qualifications in education, youth work, or a related field are desirable
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
What Teaching Personnel offers:
- Competitive daily rates reflecting your experience
- Weekly pay via PAYE
- Dedicated consultant support
- Free CPD and inclusion-focused training
- Opportunities for permanent employment
Contract: Long-term, Start: ASAP, Location: Middlesbrough secondary schools
