Teacher of Humanities (Maternity Cover)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, dedicated and inspirational teacher to join the school's successful Humanities department on a maternity cover contract. The school is ideally seeking a qualified Teacher of History; however, applications are welcomed from outstanding teachers of other Humanities subjects who have the skills, experience and enthusiasm to make a positive contribution to the department.

This fixed-term maternity cover is expected to run from 1 September 2026 until 12 February 2027, offering an excellent opportunity to join a supportive and collaborative team committed to delivering an outstanding education for every student.

The successful candidate will be an excellent classroom practitioner with high expectations of achievement and behaviour. They will demonstrate a commitment to academic excellence, maintain the highest professional standards and place students at the heart of everything they do. Comprehensive schemes of work and high-quality teaching resources are already in place, enabling the successful applicant to focus on delivering engaging lessons that inspire students and support excellent progress.

Working closely with colleagues across the Humanities faculty, the successful candidate will follow the established curriculum, build upon the work of the substantive class teacher and deliver lessons that are well-planned, challenging and inclusive. They will use assessment effectively to monitor, track and analyse student progress, adapting their teaching where necessary to ensure all learners achieve their full potential. They will also contribute positively to departmental meetings and the wider life of the school, working collaboratively with colleagues to maintain the high standards of teaching and learning across the faculty.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
