Humanities Teacher

About the Role:
Teaching Personnel is currently seeking a resilient and dedicated Humanities Teacher to work within a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) unit in Hildenborough, Kent. This role is ideal for a fully qualified teacher who has experience supporting students with additional needs and is passionate about making a meaningful difference in a nurturing, structured environment.

We welcome applications from both Early Career Teachers (ECTs) with relevant placement experience in SEMH settings, as well as experienced teachers looking to further their career in specialist education.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver engaging Humanities lessons (e.g., History, Geography, PSHE) tailored to students with SEMH needs

• Create a supportive, structured, and inclusive learning environment

• Manage challenging behaviour effectively using de-escalation strategies

• Adapt teaching approaches to meet individual learning needs and EHCP targets

• Monitor, assess, and report on student progress

• Work collaboratively with support staff, SENCOs, and external professionals

Requirements:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential

• Experience working within an SEMH setting is essential

• Strong understanding of behaviour management strategies

• A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach

• Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff

• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
