Food Technology Teacher

About the Role:
Teaching Personnel is currently seeking a resilient and dedicated Food Technology Teacher to work within a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) unit in Hildenborough, Kent. This role is ideal for a fully qualified teacher who has experience supporting students with additional needs and is passionate about delivering practical, engaging lessons in a structured and supportive environment.
We welcome applications from both Early Career Teachers (ECTs) with relevant placement experience in SEMH settings, as well as experienced teachers looking to further their career in specialist education.
Key Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver engaging Food Technology lessons tailored to students with SEMH needs

Teach practical cooking skills, nutrition, and food safety

Create a safe, supportive, and structured learning environment

Manage challenging behaviour effectively using de-escalation strategies
-
Adapt teaching approaches to meet individual learning needs and EHCP targets

Monitor, assess, and report on student progress

Ensure health and safety standards are consistently met in the kitchen/classroom

Work collaboratively with support staff, SENCOs, and external professionals
Requirements:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential

Experience working within an SEMH setting is essential

Strong understanding of behaviour management strategies

Knowledge of food hygiene and health & safety in a practical setting

A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach

Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff

Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
