Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Supply

Position: HLTA

Location: Stockport

Contract Type: Flexible Supply / Long-Term Opportunities

Salary: £100 – £115 per day

Are you an experienced HLTA looking for flexible, rewarding work across primary schools in Stockport?

We are seeking confident, adaptable Higher Level Teaching Assistants to support a variety of local schools on a supply basis. This role is ideal for an experienced TA or HLTA who is ready to step up, take on greater responsibility, and gain valuable experience delivering lessons.

As a Supply HLTA, you will work across different year groups, supporting pupils 1:1, leading small groups, and delivering pre-planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher. Every day is different, offering you the chance to broaden your skills and make a real impact in a range of school settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver pre-planned lessons confidently when required.
  • Support pupils in KS1 and KS2 through small group work and 1:1 sessions.
  • Manage classroom behaviour and maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Support pupils with SEN and SEMH, employing strategies tailored to individual pupils.
  • Approach each child’s learning with creativity, patience, and adaptability.
  • Provide feedback to class teachers and contribute to pupil progress.
  • Adapt learning activities to suit a range of needs and abilities.
  • Work independently and as part of a wider school team.
  • Offer emotional and social support to pupils when needed.
  • Engage in CPD opportunities and keep up to date with safeguarding practices.

Requirements:

  • HLTA status or equivalent qualification.
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at grade C/4 or above.
  • Previous experience in a primary school setting.
  • Solid understanding of the KS1/KS2 curriculum.
  • A positive attitude, strong communication skills, and genuine passion for working with children.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
