Higher Level Teaching Assistant (SEN)

Location: Effingham, Surrey
Contract: Fixed Term (until December 2025), Full-Time
Salary: £27,713 - £30,250 (dependent on qualifications) + £2,000 Welcome Bonus for HLTAs with SEN experience

About the Role:

We are seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a specialist SEN school in Effingham, Surrey. The successful candidate will:

Lead lessons in the absence of the class teacher.
✔ Support teaching and learning by delivering well-structured activities to individuals, small groups, or full classes.
✔ Monitor and support pupil progress, adapting teaching approaches to meet individual needs.
✔ Play an active role in safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare.
✔ Support students with behavioural and communication needs, ensuring a positive and engaging environment.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a school dedicated to providing high-quality education to students aged 11-16 with autism and associated learning needs.

About You:

We are looking for someone who is:
Passionate about SEN education and dedicated to student success.
Experienced in working with autistic students or those with complex learning needs.
✔ Skilled in adapting lessons to support different abilities.
✔ A confident communicator, able to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents.
Qualified at Level 4 or above (HLTA Diploma or equivalent essential).
GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4 or equivalent) essential.
